How to make your home a cosy Christmas oasis this Advent?

Have you decorated the tree yet? How are the plans for baking Christmas biscuits with your nephews and nieces going this year?
So, there is little time left for reflection and contemplation during the festive season. But with a couple of little tricks you can turn your home into a real oasis, where you can retreat from the outside world and enjoy the best of the pre-Christmas period, alone or in the company of your nearest and dearest.

1. Spot lighting with candles

  • The warm, flickering light emanating from candles is simply a delight to the senses. Every day it gets dark a little earlier and this undoubtedly affects our mood as well. It has been proven that having several points of light in your home (especially this warm light we were talking about earlier) is an essential ingredient to help you improve your mood at this cold and dark time of the year.
  • Try different compositions of candles, adorning objects you want to highlight or placed on a table near where you tend to relax. If you place them near windows and/or mirrors you will get very interesting light effects thanks to the reflection. Something we love is to use scented candles, so the experience is complete.

2. Cushions, duvets and fluffy blankets

  • Winter is starting to show its harsh side and there's nowhere else in the world you'd rather be than on your sofa, snuggled up with a pile of cushions and a warm cup of tea. It's a real pleasure to be at home in light clothes and buried in your favourite blanket or duvet, while enjoying a good movie or a book.
  • I'm sure you have plenty of cushions and blankets at home, but if you're looking to buy something new, the trends for this winter are velvet, alpaca and merino wool.

3. Light chains

  • Following the same principle as with candles, the soft (and often indirect) light offered by light chains makes the corners of your home where they are placed especially cosy.
  • Use them to highlight places where you like to relax or to complete your advent decorations. Just make sure you get a couple of extension cords, as you won't always have a socket right next to where you want to place them.

4. Use spruce branches everywhere

  • Spruce branches are very cheap to get and are a real "secret weapon" during Advent. Not only do they decorate and look fantastic adding a touch of green to any corner of your home, but the scents from the fir needles (full of etheric oils) will float in the air, bringing to your home reminiscent of forest, wood and Christmas.
  • Darker branches stand out as ornaments on white or cream surfaces. Add an extra special touch to your fir branches by embellishing them with felt ribbons or gold stars to make your advent decorations even more personalised.

5. Advent calendar

  • The last few days before Christmas Eve are not only a unique time of the year when we can create an atmosphere of expectation and anticipation with the help of an advent calendar, but also, for the little ones in the house, it is a unique tool to shorten the wait until the night of nights arrives.
  • There is no doubt that the best calendars are the ones you make yourself. Give yourself a treat every day by enjoying the little ritual of opening a little packet and having a quiet cup of tea during this special time of the year.

6. Light the fireplace

  • The quiet crackling of the burning logs has a calming and relaxing effect. What better way to end the working day or to relax at the weekend than to light the fireplace and let the dancing flames take you away.
  • If you don't have a fireplace or a cooker, we know it's not the same, but there are online videos up to 10 hours long, in which the crackling of the flames will almost make you feel the warmth of the flames.

7. Stack your favourite books

If you stack your favourite books next to the sofa or next to your favourite armchair, not only will you automatically create a much cosier, more inviting atmosphere, but it's also a sure-fire way to pick up those books again, even for a moment, later in the day and relax into reading, which is undoubtedly one of the best ways to switch off from the hectic pace of these days.

8. Enjoy making your own cigarettes with a Powerfiller electric cigarette injector.

  • You've worked so hard to make your home a real winter retreat that the best thing you can do is to take advantage of this cosy atmosphere to enjoy all your daily tasks, such as making your own cigarettes.
  • Place your cigarette machine in one of these cosy spots by candlelight or spruce branches and give yourself a break by disconnecting from the world for a few minutes.
  • There is no better way to enjoy the hobby of smoking than by producing your own cigarettes. Become independent of the continuous price hikes and be the one to determine what does and doesn't go into your cigarettes.
